What is content writing?
Content writing is intended to provide value to its readers, to build trust and establish thought leadership for a business. This can be done by supplying information, creating awareness, or through entertainment. For a website, content writing can increase its authority by making that website a source other websites link to (backlinks), but also lower its bounce rate and increase its average session duration.
What does a content writer do?
So what types of text does a content writer write? Often, these are longer form texts, such as blog articles, white papers, case studies, and how-to-guides. But they can also be shorter content, such as press releases or a LinkedIn post.
The work also includes research, both keyword research and topical research. The research is then followed by organising the researched material, outlining and writing the content in such a way that it keeps the readers attention throughout the entire text.
Why hire a freelance content writer instead of using AI?
There are several aspects that need to work together to make a good piece of content, that will make it rank well and serve its purpose. Generative AI is not very good at several of them, most importantly originality. Generative AI is incapable of generating original content, all it can do is reproduce the material it has been trained on, and that is no way to show your authority on a subject.

What is the difference between content writing and copywriting?
